So 10 years go by, play on tour, no wins. A few playoffs, a lot of top fives. Basically every 25 events, one top 10. 290 events later, I finally win my first tour event.
I hate that stat, by the way. It makes it-- I mean, I know they say it on the TV. But we sort of don't think that way, do we?
I don't. I mean--
You didn't know it was 292 when they-- someone told you.
Somebody told me.
It's your life, man.
Somebody.
They don't say-- they don't say to a businessman, 756 weeks without doing a deal.
Well said.
You know what I mean?
That's funny. Yeah, that's well said. I think any sports you get into stats, and I do a little bit of stats kind of once or twice a year, to kind of see where I need to improve.
But you do, you do, you are only measured our tour by what you've won, and if you've won.
Well said. And you know that too well for majors. When you win a major, you move to another elite level, and they measure you with the major stuff. So yeah, getting out, getting that monkey off the back, was incredible for me. And it showed. The next week I showed up to the PGA, and had a chance to win. I was in the final group.
You and I were texting. It was awesome watching you. It was so-- so calm, because I know what that pressure is like. And all of a sudden, you win. So now there's like, I'm playing in a major. And now I'm calm.
That's right.
What was that like?
Well said. I was as calm as I've ever been. Those few weeks leading up into it, and then winning in Reno, and then showing up at the PGA. There's just something that happens in sports, and it's hard--
I used to think, you think Jack or Tiger used to play every day. I used to think that to myself. Like God, those guys, I mean I know they've earned it. But how sweet is that feeling, of just like don't care about where it's going. If it does go over there, you know it's going to go back. And we're going to do this, and everything's going to be hunky dory. I'm probably going to make a ton of money this week, and life's beautiful.
Life is amazing. It's crazy. I wish-- we all wish we could just grab it and buy it off the shelf, and do it every day. And it's just not that easy.
