I didn't really know how I felt about golf being back in the Olympics. And I don't know if it was because I really didn't believe that I had a shot of making it. Because I mean, top four Americans.
You had made it at the US Open out at--
CordeValle.
Yeah, I watched it.
But it actually came down to SH Park.
That's right. That's right.
She hit it in the water.
That's right.
Made a bogey, which sent me--
They announced that you'd made it. And you hadn't made it. I think on the--
Yeah, because of her. Because she was playing so well. I think if she would have got third solo, I wouldn't have gone, because she would have moved up to 15th and knocked me down.
Yeah.
But it was crazy because all year, I was in, I was out, I was in, I was out. And earlier in the year, this is second tournament of the year, and it's Thailand. And I don't you if you've been to Thailand, but it is like the surface of the sun. It is so hot.
It's so hot.
Get done playing. The officials came to me with the LPGA, and they're like, hey, we need to take your picture for the Olympics. And I'm like, I'm not going to make it. Let's just be honest. You know, I'm hot. I'm you know--
Yeah, sweating.
I'm sweating. You take off your hat, I've got the line across my forehead, probably the worst picture ever taken. Fast forward, I end up qualifying.
You're in it.
And I get my credential, and there's that stinking picture that I did not want to take.
Oh--
[LAUGHING]
Because--
That's brutal.
--I didn't think I was going to make it. So it was just a dream come true. And my mom's a PE teacher. So she's trying to inspire her kids every day. Whether it's in sports, or life, or good grades. I've even heard from my PE teacher. You're like, one kid in your class is going to be an Olympic athlete. And she's telling this to her kids, and she's like, my daughter's an Olympian. And so that's just really cool.
Yeah, that's cool.
To hear that from my mom, that is trying to inspire these young kids from the small town of 50,000 people. I did it.
